monster hunt augmented reality game

i recently stumbled upon an augmented reality game that launched in the uk last month to promote an annual sci-fi festival in manchester called “grimm fest.” participants were asked to download a mobile app, supported on both iphone and android platforms, and use their mobile device to hunt and slay zombies, werewolves, ghosts, witches, and vampires around their city.  points are totaled and winners with the highest scores become eligible for numerous prizes.

i think it’s a really novel idea and like how it was applied to the physical “outdoor” environment, rather than confining the user to a specific environment that relies on a map or other printed materials.  YourBrandReality developed the program using layar’s augmented reality browser.  overall, a nice execution that could be applied very easily to a myriad of brand marketing programs.
